...yes, I did just make lousy/ugly word art for my light therapy lamp. But seriously, it is my sunshine, especially when the holidays die down and January sets in with all of its January gray-ness. No matter what the sun is doing outside, my lamp is always there for me and my Seasonal Affective Disorder.
As a side note, Seasonal Affective Disorder has to be the cruelest acronym in the DSM-V. If you say the full name, you sound pretentious. If you use the acronym, you sound inarticulate:
The good news is that light therapy really works, by some estimates for 70% of those who use it.
If you have SAD or the winter blues, you're not alone; depending on where you live, up to 10% of the population is similarly affected.
...so don't be afraid to reach out and get help if you need it. And if you have one, give your light therapy lamp a hug (or make bad art for them). They're worth it.
